DemDaily: Rolling Out the Convention. Speakers Announced!

August 11, 2020

With just six days left until the start of the 2020 Democratic Convention, the speakers and program are rolling out on a daily basis, with final themes, agenda and voices from everyday Americans, as well as our elected political and public leaders.

Uniting America
The virtual "Uniting America," broadcast August 17-20th, will offer four nights of programming which will include a mix of both pre-recorded segments and live broadcasts from locations across the country.

While the formal program is condensed to just two hours each night, there are official and unofficial events throughout the day -- with daily updates posted to the DemList 2020 Convention Calendar!

Each day will kickoff between 8:00am-11:00am with State Delegation breakfasts and meetings, held virtually or in-person in each respective state and time zone. Most state parties are also holding daily lunches and evening receptions.

From noon to 8pm ET, the DNC Caucus and Council meetings, which are open to the public, will take place, as well as a series of Virtual Policy Roundtables with campaign advisors, elected and business leaders.

The "pre-gavel" program will start an hour before the formal convention program, and will include battleground state speakers, along with pre-convention programs from some of the two dozen Biden coalition groups, followed by watch parties during the main program.

The main program will run from 9:00pm-11:00pm EDT each night and will combine taped segments interwoven with live speakers beaming in from strategic/historic locations.

Official party business normally conducted at the convention, including voting on the Party Platform and the reports of the Convention Rules and Credentials Committees, are being conducted virtually by delegates between August 3rd and August 15th.

Instead a "reimagined roll call process" will take place Tuesday night, over the course of 30 minutes, that will take convention viewers to all 57 states and territories.
