DemDaily: Mobilize for Our Lives
April 1, 2025
This Saturday, April 5, hundreds of thousands of people across the country are taking to the streets in major cities and small towns in every state and Washington, DC, in defiance of the Donald Trump-Elon Musk corrupt power grab and the Republican assault on our democracy and communities.
The National Hands Off! Mass Mobilization -- the largest single day of action since Trump was sworn in for a second presidential term -- now includes over 1,000 events nationwide.
In solidarity against the Trump administration, multiple International events are also taking place, including in London, Madrid and Zurich.

What: Hands Off! Mass National Mobilization
When: April 5, Saturday
Location: National Mall, Washington Monument
2 15th St NW (Sylvan Theater)
Washington, DC 20004
Time: 12:00 – 3:30pm EDT
Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin will headline the roster for the flagship protest at the nation's capital, which is expected to draw more than 12,500 participants. Other event speakers include Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost, American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) President Everett Kelley, and Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson, among others.
The protests are a response to Trump and congressional Republicans’ efforts to gut essential programs like Social Security, Medicaid, public education, veterans' healthcare and other services for the middle class and working families -- which have sparked nationwide outrage.
“This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies,” said organizers in Washington, DC, "The message is unified and urgent: Hands off our rights, our resources, and our democracy."
MoveOn, the Women’s March, Public Citizen, Indivisible, Progressive Democrats of America, Stand Up America, Not Above the Law Coalition, Third Act, DemList and national and local all rightlabor unions are among the more than 155 organizing partners.
| A core principle behind Hands Off! is a commitment to nonviolent action. All Participants are expected to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. |
