The Democratic National Committee's release last week of its proposed 2028 presidential state nominating calendar is a stark reminder that the kickoff to the next race for the White House is just around the corner.
While no candidate is expected to officially announce before 2027, the field is taking shape, with potential Democratic presidential contenders having already crisscrossed battleground states over the last year to test the waters.
The selection of the early primary states also provides the first roadmap and insight into advantages or obstacles to individual candidates as they ponder their prospects of running.
