November 4: Pennsylvania Supreme Court election
The Keystone State's high court boasts a 5-2 Democratic majority with three Democratic seats up for retention election this year. The balance of the court, which has played a pivotal role in voting rights fights over the last decade, has grave implications for the key swing state in the 2026 midterms and 2028 presidential election.
November 4: California's Proposition 50 Special Election
California's Proposition 50 Special Election: A legislatively referred constitutional amendment that would temporarily replace the state's current congressional district map. The measure is a response to Republican-led redistricting efforts in states like Texas.

| Republicans hold a 220-215 majority in the US House -- the smallest margin in modern history. That number includes one open Republican seat (TN-7/Green), one open Democratic seat (TX-18/Turner), and Arizona's Seventh Congressional District -- where Democrat Adelita Grijalva won, by a landslide, the September 23 special election to succeed her father, the late Raúl Grijalva, but whom Republicans have so far refused to swear in to the 119th Congress. |
