DemDaily: A Progressive Champion

May 24, 2016
A key component of DemList's mission is promoting the good work of the players and allies.
One who has played multiple roles in shaping and advancing the progressive movement is democratic strategist Mike Lux - and today is his birthday!
A veteran of campaign and white house politics, author and frequent blogger, Mike is President and Founder of Progressive Strategies. He has been a driving force in helping launch some of the country's leading organizations, including Center for American Progress, Air America,, the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, Netroots Nation, Americans United for Change and USAction, among others.
Tonight he is celebrating two of his primary efforts: American Family Voices and Progressive Congress.
Mike founded American Family Voices in 2000 to be a strong voice for middle class and working class families on economic, health care, and consumer issues.
The fearless team at AFV have done countless public education campaigns and effectively pushed for legislation on numerous issues. From voting rights to campaign financing reform, to taking on the Koch brothers and the Supreme Court fight, Mike has championed the cause for America's working families and voters.
Progressive Congress is dedicated to connecting the progressive movement and agenda with Congress. Their mission is to leverage and connect the work done by progressive think tanks, organizations, foundations, and activists to inform policy and legislation with Members of Congress.
A team of core staff, paid fellowships, volunteers, and strategic partners work closely with the Congressional Progressive Caucus to "bring together the collective wisdom of progressives inside and outside the government to promote peace and global security; economic opportunity, labor & workers' rights with a special focus on women and under-represented communities; public health and education; energy independence and environmental sustainability; civil rights and human rights through public education, organizing and strategically targeted communications."
Join us in celebrating a progressive champion and support his causes. If you are in DC, stop by (tickets just $25!).
Happy Birthday Mike - from the DemList crew!
